Bombers start strong at the net

The Lewis & Clark Bombers launched the 2013 volleyball season with a pair of wins and a solid performance in the Coal Country Tournament last week.

On Saturday, the Bombers traveled to Hazen for the first tournament of the season and finished third in the Silver Divison by defeating Richardton-Taylor 25-15, 25-16.

Lewis & Clark advanced to the third place match after losing to Beulah 23-25, 18-25, but beating Shiloh Christian 25-15, 25-20. Beulah topped New England for the Silver Division title.

The Bombers started the day in Pool C, where they lost their opening match to Stanley 17-25, 18-25. Lewis & Clark came back to split a match with Hazen 25-11, 11-25, then defeated Flasher 25-18, 25-16.

Other teams in the Silver Division included Center Stanton, New England, Flasher and New Salem-Almont.

Teams that competed in the Gold Division included Kenmare, Hazen, Ray, Stanley, Dickinson Trinity and Our Redeemer’s. Lisbon won the Gold Division by defeating Minot Bishop Ryan.
