Lewis & Clark-Berthold High School to honor 24 graduates in Class of 2013

Lewis & Clark-Berthold High School will host commencement exercises for seniors and eighth grade students on Sunday, May 19, 2013, beginning at 1 pm in the school gymnasium.

Lewis & Clark-Berthold High School will host commencement exercises for seniors and eighth grade students on Sunday, May 19, 2013, beginning at 1 pm in the school gymnasium.

Valedictorian Tayler Myers and salutatorian Logan Gunderson will lead a class of 24 seniors as they both address classmates and guests during the program.

Honor graduate Jordyn Hornberger will formally welcome everyone to the ceremony. Honor graduate Elizabeth Nelson will commemorate the occasion by performing a piano solo.

Other honor graduates include Brady Axness, Tatyana Campbell, Hayley Deaver, Emilee Gregory, Lacey Marmon and Cale Neshem.

They will join classmates Brittney Bachmeier, Austin Brown, Morgan Cummings, Ashley Edwards, Tyler Fjeldahl, Alexandra Gonzalez, Jaeden Jenson, Bryce Lynne, Patricio Marquez, Jr., Dalton Njos, Casey Peisar, Brianna Sechrist, Cristine Wittman and Garrett Young to receive their diplomas.

The new graduates will also share some light-hearted memories and moments through a multi-media presentation of photos collected from their elementary and high school years.

The Berthold concert band, under the direction of Dawna Helfrich, will perform the processional and recessional, as well as “Tribute” by John Edmondson.

Helfrich will conduct the Berthold Choir as the students sing “Omnia Sol” by Z. Randall Stroope.

The graduates will be assisted by Junior Honor Guards Taylor Kunz and Bethany Limke, and by Junior Honor Ushers Abby Berg, Rachel Birdsall, Ben Hovland, Jessi Johnson, Adam Knudsvig, Wyatt Limke, Amber Moen, Wyatt Nichols and Mitchel White.

Eighth grade students celebrating a milestone that day include Kyle Berg, Zachary Block, Keaton Borud, Nichole Brookhouser, Kendra Dahle, Eli Devoss, Jessica Gonzalez, Cody Hamilton, Benjamin Helfrich, Jasmin Johnson, Kaitlyn Johnson, Jenna Kilene, Roman Knudsvig, Lanie Kunz, Quinton Martinez, Alex Nelson, Emily Neshem, Makenzie Neshem, Sydney Pabian, Sammantha Rivers, Jared Ross, Lacey Schweitzer, Dahja Steed and Ashlyn Thompson.

Troy Ross, Berthold Public School math teacher, will present both groups of students for commencement. Superintendent Brian Nelson will award the eighth grade diplomas, and school board member Mike Axness will present diplomas to the seniors.

The Berthold Class of 2013 has selected black, purple and silver as class colors and the tie-dye rose for the class flower.

The seniors will graduate with a motto immortalized by the Walt Disney character Jiminy Cricket: “If your heart is in your dream, no request is too extreme.”
