Kenmare teen masters 3D printing...

Most of us have hobbies to keep us occupied in our spare time. Some of like to work with wood, others garden or landscape, still others fix up old cars.

Printing a rocket ship... Jacob Livingston stands by as his most recent 3D printer (closest to him) creates a model-sized rocket ship. Livingston, 15, has been working with 3D printers for five years and got his start with the one on the right, a basic printer he said was a great learning tool.

Most of us have hobbies to keep us occupied in our spare time. Some of like to work with wood, others garden or landscape, still others fix up old cars.

For Kenmare teenager Jacob Livingston, his hobby is anything but the norm.

Livingston, a 15-year-old freshman at Kenmare High School, spends his spare time building things with a 3D printer.

“I got it, built it myself and started to learn more about it,” he said. “It’s really fun.” ... 

Livingston is actually on his second 3D printer. He still has the first one, but rarely uses it because his new model is much more sophisticated....
