History repeats itself again as the Kenmare FFA Chapter excelled at the District 1 Leadership Conference on October 2nd in Williston. Kenmare FFA members spent the day striving to bring home the coveted “Chapter of the Day” title. Several teams and individuals worked toward this goal.

The Parliamentary Procedure Team, consisting of President Tayler Mau, Vice President Charles Steinberger, Secretary Katie Nelson, Treasurer Bailey Grosser, Reporter Codee Gilbertson, Sentinel McKenzie Chrest, and Parliamentarian Mason Ankenbauer, received First Place and a Gold Award. They will be advancing to the State Parliamentary Procedure contest on October 10th in Bismarck.

Steinberger and Gilbertson both received Officer of the Day recognition. Chrest, Nelson, and Grosser received Gold Awards and Mau received a Silver Award.

Austin Redding, Shantell Brekhus, Justice Brown and Rebekah Fetterhoff were members of the Quiz Team that showed off their knowledge of the FFA by placing First and received Gold Awards individually.

The Greenhand Quiz Team, consisting of Freshman students, placed first and received Gold Awards. Team members included Austin Kracht, Dalton Petersen, Tanner King, Ty Jesz, Jordan Ankenbauer and Kennedy Chrest. Dalton Petersen was named the High Individual in the Greenhand Quiz contest.

Also at District Leadership there are various speaking contests that members can participate in. Charles Steinberger won the Extemporaneous Public Speaking Contest by giving a speech on “The Impact of Wolves in Agriculture.”

Another speaking contest is the Prepared Public Speaking Contest where members create a speech prior to District Leadership and recite it to numerous judges. Jordan Balvitsch received First Place for his speech on “Agriculture & Technology.”

The Creed Speaking Contest allows FFA Members to show off their ability to memorize and recite the FFA Creed. Dalton Petersen was the representative from Kenmare. He received a Silver Award.

Alex Giese participated in the Demonstration CDE. He demonstrated how to paint a project with ease and finesse.  He received a Gold Award and placed first.

The Job Interview CDE involves filling out a job application, creating a resume and cover letter, and taking part in an actual interview with judges. Receiving first place and a Gold Award in this contest was Codee Gilbertson.

Members advancing to the State FFA Convention in June are Charles Steinberger, Jordan Balvitsch, Codee Gilbertson, and Alex Giese. The Quiz team will also advance to state competition. Good luck to all advancing members!

At the end of the day, the Kenmare FFA Chapter brought home the “Chapter of the Day” Award for the sixth year in a row. Congratulations to all of members who participated.
