A new chapter of sports history was written in North Dakota high school boys basketball Dec. 3 when the Kenmare Honkers entertained the Ray Jays.

It was the season opener and the Honkers outlasted the Jays in overtime by a score of 63-58.

Hometown player Hunter Harris poured in 29 points to start out the season on a tear.

But that doesn’t even begin to tell the story of this game and how it turned out. Statistically, this game can only be described as mind boggling.

Eighty-three free throws were attempted by both teams, 63 fouls were committed on both sides and by the end of the game the floor resembled a power play in hockey. The game lasted 2 hours, 45 minutes. Read EVERY WORD on EVERY PAGE of The Kenmare News by subscribing--online or in print!
